A little FYI on our weather today.......it is hot as hell....93 for a high with a heat advisory.....it will feel like 100 degrees.
The Wauz and I went for a run at 7 15 this morning, it was brutal. As much as everyone says that they love hot summer weather....I hate it! I would take a day of tee shirt and jeans in the 50-60's any day of the week. It just seem like I forget how hot humid weather feels until I go outside and realize that breathing takes more effort......like a ton more! Now I know people might be reading this post, thinking hey it would be nice to have some hot weather...personally I think you are nuts. Don't you remember what is felt like to step outside for like 30 secs only to realize that you started to sweat like 15 secs before....who likes to sweat, especially if you have a nice dress on and your hair looks nice...yuck! On top of it all.....there is the A/C issue. You step outside you sweat, you go inside you freeze.....not fun! I have to go to most restaurants and bars with a long sleeve shirt in my purse just to stay warm, who wants to freeze when it is 100 degrees outside.
With summer beginning on Sunday, all I can think is....summer weather is going to sticky and sweaty....however I should keep the parka ready for a trip inside.

Ughhh!
I know it has been a while, you can thank 4 days a week of school + one day of work on the weekends + studying hours!!!
Needless to say, we are busy, busy bees. Blair has been doing his study thang.....he talks about it each night....I heart my little nerd!! According to his last head count, he has over 60% of his subjects finished which totals 6 people...got to love pilot work. He has been working like a dog......up early to school and weekend tests. To count balance his lack of income, he will be starting to teach (again) next week! He is teaching a lab for the summer, which is great for the old checkbook. At the current moment, he is lending a helping hand to a fellow student....always a great guy.
I am almost done with my first summer class (2 weeks a counting)....that leaves me with 1/2 the program to complete...yeah!!! I think I can maybe see, a slight, little...who am I kidding...I can see no light at the end of the tunnel....chat with me in about 3 months. I can feel the bottom of my feet getting warm to the fire of burnout, but I will solider on! After a wonderful 4 day rest break (NOT!), I begin the always interesting peds and OB rotation. I am intrigued by the OB and a little worried about the peds side of the game. I am good with kids, but sick kids make me want to cry....that is not so good to have a crying nurse working on one's child....might make people a little nervous. The OB is interesting due to the idea that I will be there for the birth of someone else's child....if you think about it OB might be the one of the greatest places to work. Joy is something that can be attached to the OB floor....who does not love having babies, however we are talking about pregnancy.....different ball game. At the same time, OB allows a person to experience one of nature's greatest gifts.....a truly good reason for a woman to scream at a man (only kidding!)
Wauzee has been freaking out lately......storm after storm after storm will put a hole in little Wauzee stomach (or ours seeing has how many of these storms are rolling through at night). Otherwise, my little cupcake has been on his best behavior lately!
Well, I am off to get some work done prior to the start of game 7.....go Pens!

And we keep on trucking.....
So, my awesome friend James came through......Here are some rocking pics from Little 5 weekend. In addition, I would highly recommended reading James excellent description of said race.....must give props to the cycling dude!
Well, my 4 day summer break was.....well 4 days off.
Blair and I head home for some quality time with the rents and Lumpp fam...it was great to see everyone! My little niece is so cute and my cousins kiddies are adorable. In addition, to seeing all of the little ones we got to meet Teddy....my rents energetic new pup! HE IS SOOO CUTE and well little compared to Wauzee....in truth a 2 year old child is little compared to Wauzee....we move on!
My rents got Teddy ( or as my father calls him Theodore) from a local animal shelter....which is soooo excellent, best way to get a new pet! He was one of seven ( I think) and I am convinced was probably the smartest. He has somewhat mastered the sit command and not peeping/pooping in the house.
However, my little Wauz HATES HIM!!!!!!! I would not have shocked me if Wauzee developed an ulcer while hanging out with Teddy. All little Ted wanted to do was play with Wauzee at all times......all Wauzee wanted to do was lay around and sleep (hey he was on va-ca). So, to entertain myself Teddy decided it would be fun to bite/chew on Wauzee.....man, he got Wauzee good sometimes. Teddy spent the whole weekend chasing Wauzee's tail, biting his bottom, chest, wherever he could get a little nibble (oh the hind legs were his favorite spot). Wauzee spent the weekend barking, fearing, and trying to get away from this little terror.......definitely was a excellent form of entertainment.

Cycling, Running, Studying....Oh My!
Well, the Lumppson (Lumpp + Johnson=Lumppson) crew has been very busy the past two weekends.
Last weekend (as in April 25th) Blair and I took part in a Bloomington tradition....the little 500 bike race (aka Little 5 and we did not actually take part the in racing, but more watching). For those who may have seen the movie Breaking Away (which is totally based on the race), well you know the concept. The men ride 200 laps and the women ride 100 laps around a 400 meter track on a single gear Schwinn bicycle...there are 4 members to a team and the start is similar to the Indy 500. There are only two bikes per team, when a teammate needs to switch they either A) start with the other bike and receive a tag from the riding member OR B) completely switch riders (the one rider jumps off at the same time the other rider jumps on). The race is open to any team of undergrads who are able to make it through the qualifying, at least for the men's race. Needless to say, IT IS HUGE!!! The crowd consists of every frat and sorority on campus screaming and cheering for their teams, along with families of other riders and well anyone else for that matter. Both races were awesome with the winner being determined in the last 400 meters! This years winners: In the men's divisions was the Cutters (a local cycling group) in 2:15....second year a row and in the women's division was Pi Beta Phi (a sorority) in 1:05. Thanks to my excellent and awesome friend James, I should have some pics to go along with my somewhat poor explanation soon! (a pic says a thousand words...that I can't even create at the moment!)
This weekend (May 2nd) was the big race....the Mini Marathon to open the 500 festival. Blair and I were praying hard core for no rain, well our prayers were answered. It was BEAUTIFUL running weather....upper 50's-60's with clouds at the start and sunny while crossing the finish line. We both had good races...Blair finished in 1:36.36 and I finished 2:03 (according to my watch) or 2:07 (according to my chip)...the difference is a potty break at mile 3 (it took my 20 minutes to get to the start line, give me a break :)!). Our experience was well....interesting. The race has 35,000 participants, as one can imagine...that is a hell of a lot of participants. Lets just say for two people who enjoy challenging themselves during a race, it was a little difficult. On my end of the deal, it was hard to get into a rhythm due to running around walkers (who some how started before me....I digress) and slower racers for much of my 13.1 miles. All in all, it was a great time with excellent weather and good race course. If it were to be done again.... Blair and I would potentially lie on our sign up sheet so we could get moved up at the start, with the hopes of starting with actual runners.....
FYI: Blair started well ahead of me....they corral the start with the hopes that slower participants are towards the end....like walkers for example, but somehow they get to start before Blair and I.....a little on the annoying side when you are starting a RUNNING race running around people WALKING!
On top of it all, Blair and I are heading into finals week. As we type, Blair is in the kitchen studying for his stats final in which he has to get a 50% or higher to keep his "A".....good luck darling! I do not have finals until the end of the week.....hence the time spent typing and buying clothes off the web (my new favorite thing!). However, I am going to let you all go to start reading a chapter on endocrine disorders for my final on Friday.....the nerd lives on (as my bro Chris would probably say!)
I leave you with a couple pics of Blair and I with our metals and racing shirts from other races we have done over the years. As well as a pic of the Wauz, who made a new friend this past week.....
The Wauz wearing Blair's metal from the race....it deserve it due to the fact he put in abou 3/4 of the training as Blair's or Sam's running partner
Us wearing our metals......we never take pics, so is an accomplishment, mainly due to the fact we used the timer!

Adventures on Hwy 37
Happy Earth Day (one day late) to all!!! I am a big fan of earth day, and well the earth in general. I would call myself an environmentalist....we recycle, have power bars for our computer and TV, and we like to be outside. However, I am somewhat breaking my environmentalist approach with my travels to and from school. As most of you all know, my school travels are a bit long.....about an hour to an hour and a half (depending on the time I leave home and how many stop lights I hit.) Most days, I leave the house around 5:30 to get to work or school by 7 am (I HEART CLINICALS!!). Other days, I am leaving the house by 7 am. My drive up to school is mainly Hwy 37, there is no major interstate that runs from Indy to Bloomington. Well, interesting things happen on Hwy 37, especially on nice sunny 60-70 degree days. For example, today I saw a person fly up the merge lane onto the shoulder cut across traffic (literally cutting off a car and truck) to stop at the next light get out of his car and almost throw down with the guy in the big rig.....yes the guy stopped his car in the turn lane, got out and stated to the truck driver that he did not want to cause trouble (it should be added that the light had just turned green) but he was a trucker and that is the last of the conversation that I heard due to the fact I was getting the hell out of there.....I know that I am a nursing student, but I was not going to deal with that situation if blood was going to fly. As I drove away, I did watch the saga end quietly in the rearview mirror.
That is one story of many weird things I have seen on highway 37....here are some other notable sights
1. Old guy on a big tricycle (the peddling kind) swerving into and out of the northbound lanes.
2. People jogging on the shoulder.....it should be noted the average speed is about 65-70 mph.
3. A couple with their dog running next to their bicycles (once again peddling) southbound towards Martinsville (about 10 miles from it)......it gave me the impression that the two bags on their backs, their bikes, and their dog was the only thing this couple had left....sad thought
In other news.....things have been going great for Blair and I lately. I just finished my psych clinical (THANK GOD!!!!!!) yesterday.....psych nursing will not be my profession. I will be done with my second semester of nursing school in about 2 weeks. I get off for about 4 days, then start my summer session...only a year left until graduation. Blair is starting his second subject for his research project looking at the effects of different exercise intensities on endothelial function (simple terms....how your blood vessels respond to exercise). Also, Blair got a job teaching exercise physiology labs this summer.....yeah for $$$!
According to Blair's IM message today, we have 8 days and counting to the Indy Mini Marathon (mini=half marathon=13.1 miles). It should be interesting....they have over 40,000 participants...according to one of my friends, it took her over 20 minutes to get to the starting line.....gre-at..........I think it might be our first and last Indy Mini Marathon! For me, it will be my first official half marathon....yes I was crazy...I officially ran a full prior to an official half marathon. It will be Blair's second half marathon.....he is praying that it does not rain....like his first one!
It should be an awesome weekend.....in the 80's and "little 5" (little 5=bike race in Bloomington).

I am back and better than ever!
Well, well, well.....I have official gotten back up on the blogging horse and am ready from some action.
To begin lets concern ourselves with a brief thought....you know the saying the only two things to expect in life are death and taxes. I would like to add another concept/word to the phrase, it would be laundry. I have no idea where we get all of our laundry, but between the two of us we seem to be doing laundry nonstop. After getting ready this afternoon (went running and had class for those who are wondering why I am getting ready in the afternoon), I really began to notice that Blair and I have a crap load of laundry.....every week. The next thought that normal pops into my mind is how the hell are you going to have children and not be doing laundry all the time. It will be a bloody nightmare. I just see it now....get up in the morning with a nice pray each day asking that our child not poop, peep, or puke all over their clothes b/c we will be doing laundry forever! Which leads me to my second point on why laundry is awful, my husband. My wonderful, sweet darling husband thinks that our dryer is going to burn down our house and every house in the neighborhood. So, if we have started to laundry and are headed out for the day he will TURN OFF THE DRYER!!! I understand the concern that the heat from the dryer might do something, God knows what....but it always makes completing the laundry that much longer. Personally, I can't stand it....he always makes the excuse it is for the dog b/c if the house catches fire, Wauzee will not be able to get out of his kennel (which he can't anyways b/c he is a dog). However, we live in a town house with two other houses connected to either side of us who probably leave their dryer on when they leave the house and they are fine.....just a thought!
I know random, but true.....death, taxes and laundry! So, since our last visit Blair and I have been busy. We had our spring break, in which we worked half and played half. We headed to Madison for the second half of break and hung out at the lake house. It was great weather and nice to see the family who came up from Chi-town. We spent all of time watching the NCAA tournament (for those who have been reading the blog I am out...big time thanks Pitt :)) and went out to a great microbrew called the Great Dane in downtown Madison. Highly recommend it!
Last weekend, Blair had his big hockey tournament in Indy. I brought the camera, but did not take pics due to 2 reasons. 1. I feel like a dork 2. I tend to get really into the games, so the thought of taking pics does not cross my mind. However, I will provide the outcome. The team won Friday, won Saturday morning and lost Saturday night (which cost them the chance to play in the championship). From my point of view, Blair played well in the first two games and great in the last game. He kept his team in it, with at least 30 saves in the last game. He looked great out on the ice and had some awesome saves (which I don't have on camera-see previous sentence).
It was a great weekend in Indy, just me and a bunch of guys. I will say men are the most interesting creature. If I went back to get my PhD, I would forgo the exercise and study the male brain. It is so fascinating. The male mind thinks and speaks about three topics.....women, sports, and beer (or movie/Seinfeld quotes). That is it! Men are not complex, they are simplistic (in a nice way). The main topic of conversations, was the hockey tourey what team they were playing, when does the puck drop blah, blah, blah! All I can say, is my husband owes me big....outside of the fact I went to each of the games, I also had to watch the regional hockey tournament for the frozen four (college hockey). I watched so much hockey last weekend that I have at least sewn up greatest wife ever for the next 6 months if not longer.
However, I have considered an equation for equal payback.....for each hour I spent watching hockey last weekend (or for that matter having to hear about hockey) I receive 2 hours of chick flick movie time or other types of male torture (watching Oprah, going to a musical)......so if my calculations are correct, Blair is in debt at least 36-48 hours or so ( and counting as we are probably going to head over to someone's house this evening to watch the Wild vs Calgary game)....redemption is sweet....I think we will start with the Notebook.....
Newest Recommendation: Outside of the Great Dane in Madison, the newest Coldplay (Viva la Vida) and the Fray (self titled) CDs. As well as, Rules of Engagement Mondays at 9:30 EST 8:30 CST on CBS.

What an amazing weekend!
Well, we were totally blessed with awesome weather the last couple of days. Blair and I did a race on Saturday in Indy....it was 70+ degrees by the end of it. I was doing great until my hamstrings decided that it was time to talk at mile 3....I was only half way done. All I kept saying to myself was YOU WILL NOT WALK!!! I made it across the finish line under my goal time, so no complaining for me.
Blair did a great job seeing has how he has been sick for the week prior to the run. He lost his voice on Monday (last week), which made him lose the ability to hit the high notes. Certain words with a higher pitch were lost for a week, however he made a good recover (starting on the day of the race) and is back to normal. He did comment that he was not able to breath at certain points during his race.....that is a athlete, run until you can't breath.
Oh, the Wauz!! Well, it is official I almost killed my dog this past weekend....we came home from dinner at a friend's house to find my work bag all over the floor with utter destruction to my chapstick, lotion, highlighter (which got all over my nice bag and the floor) and the major causality of war.....my nice and expensive stethoscope. So, when I go to listen to my patient's chest they might give me a weird look due to the fact I have a bite mark on the bell of my stethoscope....luckily it is still working. (It should be noted that was the third chapstick and lotion he had eaten in three weeks)
Fault should not be completely placed on Wauzee, Blair and I were the first to note that we had been lazy with his exercise. So, it has been my mission the last couple days to exercise the CRAP out of him. So, I have attached some pics of Wauzee after our 5 mile run today in 75 degree weather (it will be 40 degrees tomorrow) and his winter coat (which is he is starting to shed all over the house....I heart spring!)
Also, I stated in previous blogs that I was going to get pics from Blair's last hockey game...I got one!
Enjoy!
(Thank God, photography is not my career....no one would hire me!)
Wauzee laid over his water bowl for about 10 minutes post exercise.....
Hell Yeah I love a tired dog!
